Autorun Security Flaw For Windows XP, Vista and 2008 Server edition

So now the patch has been released for the disabling the Autorun on Windows XP, Vista and 2000. After such a long time, they have finally thought of doing something about it and now Autorun will not effect your OS anymore. This really troubled most of the users as this file made very easier for the viruses to attack the system. Only a removable storage media was supposed to be inserted and then it automatically performs the task, which was used by most of the viruses attacking Windows system. In this post I will be talking about this news.
In Windows 7, this feature was disabled as it already troubled a lot and users wanted a consistent solution to this problem and so they came out with this solution. Autorun was a simple file which was placed in the root of the removable media, so when that media is attached with the system it will automatically execute that Virus and then your system will be infected though you did not launched anything from the USB drive. So you can conclude that this was the most convenient and the easiest way to attach the system.Autorun has been disabled for all the removable storage media, so if you have got Genuine Windows on your system then go for updating it and the patch will be installed on your system which will stop Autorun from being executed when any removable media is inserted on your system.

This update was categorized under Important and non-security issue, but Autorun should have been considered under security related issue, Microsoft clarified that Security issues are considered to be a product specific vulnerabilities but Autorun is different as compared to them and it affect shiny media such as CDs and DVDs.
